M*, Woman of Valor

It was by faith that M* learned Zoom and offered to pray.

It was by faith that M* learned Zoom and offered to pray.

She wasn't a doctor that could heal. She couldn't sew to make masks. She wasn't strong to fight off the bullies.

But the eyes. The eyes haunted her.
If eyes are a window to the soul, the eyes she saw on her trips to the market revealed deep sorrow. There were the eyes of the widow. The eyes of the ones barely able to feed her children. The eyes of the one discouraged by job loss. And the wrinkled eyes of the one who has spent long, back-breaking hours laying bricks in the sun.

Maybe recognizing eyes was her gift. Maybe this is what her own personal suffering was for. Even in her days since knowing the True Hope, things weren't...easy.

It started as a simple offer to pray.

And they started to come, one by one. On Zoom, of all places.

And out of those very eyes, poured tears. And the tears combined with her own to fill a river. And she simply asked this God of True Hope to make himself known.

And he did. She knew he did, because they called, with shock and awe in their voices. He showed up in the most likely and unlikely of ways. In dreams at night. In family members healed. And in the quiet peace of mind that comes from knowing the God of love.

And 16 were added to their number in those days...

We honor you today M*, woman of valor.
